Biography
Jodi Myers has many years’ experience working in the arts. Having managed and programmed successful and innovative mixed programme multiple space venues, since March 2005 she has worked as a consultant with a wide variety of arts organisations. She acts as an advisor to independent artists, and occasionally as an executive producer for selected theatre projects (see Clients >).
Jodi also works as a mentor and coach for individual managers, producers and artists (see Mentoring/coaching >).
At the South Bank Centre > Jodi was Director of Performing Arts for nine years, responsible for the programme of music, dance, literature, exhibitions and education in the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and foyers. Under her leadership the programme and audience diversified considerably while maintaining high standards and financial viability. She pioneered development of SBC’s role as producer, co-producer and co-promoter of a wide range of work for the Royal Festival Hall, and acted as SBC co-producer on a number of large-scale musicals and ballet seasons.
Jodi joined SBC from Warwick Arts Centre >, at the time the largest performing and visual arts complex in UK outside London, where she had been Director for five years. During this time Warwick became the venue of choice in the Midlands for both artists and audiences, and developed its role as a commissioner and co-producer of drama, dance and music theatre.
Previously Jodi worked in the Touring Department of the Arts Council of Great Britain, including six years as Deputy Director with responsibility for drama. The early part of her career was spent in marketing and stage management for a variety of theatre and opera companies.
Jodi is often invited to speak at conferences and seminars or run workshops. These have included workshops for the British Council in Buenos Aires and Portugal, keynote addresses at two Arts Marketing Association conferences, and an address to state-wide arts organisations for Arts Victoria, Melbourne. Jodi is currently an artistic assessor for Arts Council England > a governor of Central School of Speech and Drama > and a member of the board of directors of Graeae Theatre Company > and Propeller Theatre Company >. Previous appointments include the boards of the Open Air Theatre, Regents Park > and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group > , membership of the Council of the Theatrical Management Association > and of the Arts Advisory Group of the Royal Society of Arts > .
